Real estate is the foundation of any local economy. A good realtor is in touch with long term trends affecting Lancaster County. A realtor who wants to succeed in the long run has to take a long term view of his community and his business relationships.

One of my favorite aspects of a career in real estate is the challenge of marketing a home. I bring cutting-edge marketing tools to each property I list. Prior to being a realtor I was co-founder and VP of Marketing for an international business services company that employs over 2,000 people in four countries. After selling the business, my wife and I moved home.

I come from a long line of farmers and preachers who first moved to Lancaster County in the early 1700s. After finishing college, I spent 15 years away from home, traveling and working in a number of major cities around the world. But I've never found anywhere like Lancaster. My wife and I decided to make Lancaster our permanent home prior to having our first child.

The fields and rolling hills of Lancaster County are among the most beautiful places on earth. Add to that the historic beauty of Lancaster city and you have a combination that's hard to beat. My father grew up on a preserved farm in Pequea Township that has been handed down through three generations in my lifetime. I'm lucky to have a lifetime connection to one of Lancaster County's most beautiful farms. I also grew up in a historic farm house in Bridgeport. Land conservation and the preservation of historic buildings are central to my thinking about real estate.  

On a customer service level, I understand that real estate is not only a financial investment. Home and land ownership can be a deeply personal and rewarding experience. A home is one of the foundations of the family, and nothing is more valuable than family. A real estate agent should appreciate both the emotional and the financial value of real estate and help people make balanced decisions that are in their long term interest.

Prior to my real estate career, I cofounded a business services company called Integreon (www.integreon.com). During the first stage of growth, I served as the Managing Director with responsibility for all aspects of the operation.

After recruiting an experienced executive to lead the next phase, I served as the VP of Operations with offices in two countries. I built and managed customer service operations for global banks, consulting firms and law firms.

During the third phase of growth, I served as the head of marketing. I managed internet and print advertising, acted as the PR spokesperson, and conducted SEO and other online marketing activities. I helped the company become known as one of the leaders in its niche. The company's website gained top search engine results and website traffic increased from almost nothing to thousands of visits per day.

My business and marketing career lasted seven years. In addition, I've also worked as a high school math teacher and a youth social worker for approximately five years.
